A 3-dimensional kaleidoscope of mounted butterflies in a striking circular geometric pattern. Using a mix of icy blue, white and silver-toned butterfly types, the picture seeks to reference the symmetry of ice crystal formations. The piece features two bespoke tones of the Blue Morpho butterfly, Silvery metallic Monarchs, Common Blues, and Bath Whites.
The artwork radiates from the centre to the edges of the frame in a multi-layered pattern, shifting in colour, angles and heights as it transitions.
Butterflies are all printed on a mix of metallic and iridescent paper types.
Printed on 300 gsm Sirio Pearl Oyster and Sirio Arum Silver, mounted on 160 gsm Fabriano Tiziano White Pastel paper.
The 7.5cm deep 3d kaleidoscope individually profile cut butterflies, folded, edges inked in, antennae fixed and pinned at various heights off a backboard.
The box frame is made of timber, finished in a matt black sprayed paint with a returned edge of 70mm
